ABOUT

Hi, my name is Michelle Corey Colson. I am a psychotherapist, life coach, and Christian Counselor, as well as the owner of Beach Counseling & Wellness Group of SC located near Market Commons in Myrtle Beach. As a growing mental health practice, it is my vision to create a warm, inviting, and nonjudgmental environment for clients seeking psychotherapy, counseling, or life coaching. My approach to mental health wellness and coaching is relaxed and does not use a one-size-fits-all approach.

As someone who lives with ADHD and comes from 25+ years of working in corporate America, I understand how a heightened, stressed, and overstimulated environment affects the mind, body, and spirit. Therefore, I practice from an integrated holistic viewpoint to help align these three dimensions of the individual. My therapeutic approach to counseling is person-centered therapy (Rogerian) with beliefs rooted in psychodynamic theory (Eriksonian & Adlerian). Depending on the needs of the client, I will integrate other therapies such as CBT, Mindfulness, Narrative, Somatic therapy, and Christian counseling upon request.

Furthermore, I am a graduate of Liberty University with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (With High Distinction) and a second MA in Human Services Counseling and Life Coaching (With High Distinction). Additionally, I earned a GCPC in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University concurrently. I specialize in several areas of mental health therapy as a:

  • Certified Trauma Professional (CTP)
  • Certified Anxiety Informed Professional (CAIP)
  • Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP)
  • Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional (CMIP)
  • Certified Autism Informed Professional (ASDI)
  • Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist (CYMHS)
  • Diploma in Youth Mental Health Coaching (YMHC)
  • Certificate in Child/Adolescent ADHD Assessments
  • Certificate in Adult ADHD Assessments
  • Certificate in Adult Autism Assessments
  • Certificate in Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

Presently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in South Carolina and am completing my Doctorate in Christian Counseling (D. Min.). I look forward to meeting you and working together toward finding your inner peace. Take a chance on yourself today...This is "Where Hope Begins"!

“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 (KJV)

WHY I PRACTICE THIS WAY

Over time, I have come to believe that meaningful therapeutic work requires more than good intentions or technical skill alone. It requires presence, discernment, and the freedom to practice in a way that honors both the client and the clinician.

I view this work as both a profession and a calling. That perspective shapes how I practice—with intention rather than urgency, depth rather than volume, and respect for the trust clients place in the therapeutic relationship. I intentionally maintain a limited caseload so that care can remain personal, thoughtful, and responsive, rather than rushed or transactional.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based psychotherapy and informed by years of education, advanced training, and ongoing study. For clients who desire it, faith-informed care may be integrated in a respectful and clinically appropriate way. Faith integration is always optional and guided by the client’s values and goals.

I believe people heal best when they feel seen, understood, and supported—not managed or processed. This belief has led me to build a boutique, concierge-style practice that prioritizes continuity of care, accessibility when clinically appropriate, and a strong therapeutic alliance.

I do not strive to be everything to everyone. Instead, I seek to offer careful, ethical, and relational care to those who are looking for a therapeutic experience that values depth, integrity, and intentionality.

This is the work I feel called to do, and the way I feel called to do it.

If this approach resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to explore whether working together may be a good fit.
