Services
Individual Counseling
Individual therapy or psychotherapy is a therapeutic process that occurs between a therapist and the client in counseling. For therapy to be successful, a trusting, empathetic relationship has to be built between the two. The importance of this relationship cannot be expressed enough. Ultimately, it does not matter what therapeutic modality a therapist uses if the client cannot relate to the therapist. Often clients shy away from seeking therapy because of social stigmas, lack of access, or simply not understanding what therapy is. When people do seek therapy, it can be for various reasons such as life changes, adjustment issues, or mental illness/disorders. Therapy is about individualized support to encourage growth and healing. Mental Health Matters!
Couples Counseling
Couples therapy includes premarital and marital counseling as well as those in a committed relationship. Clients tend to seek couples therapy for many reasons including communication issues, resolving conflicts, understanding one another better, to manage negative behaviors, to strengthen and deepen a loving relationship, and create overall satisfaction. The basic foundation of a relationship is to be on the same page with your partner, and to have similar beliefs and values in life. BCWG often uses a SYMBIS assessment with couples to identify personality types, interests, and what each partner needs out of a relationship. "Life doesn't make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all" (Erik Erikson).
Life Coaching
Life coaching may be unfamiliar to some, but it has been a recognized practice for several decades, often popularized by well-known coaches and historically accessible primarily to executives or those with the means to afford it. Today, life coaching is becoming more mainstream and widely available. Unlike counseling, life coaching does not involve mental health diagnoses, clinical treatment modalities, or set time frames, and its goals may differ. Most states, including South Carolina, do not require specific education or licensing for life coaches. Choosing a life coach who is also a licensed clinical mental health counselor with advanced degrees in counseling and life coaching can provide added confidence and peace of mind.

🌿 The Importance of ADHD Assessments and Evaluations for Teens and Adults
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most widely misunderstood mental health conditions. Many teens and adults grow up believing they are “lazy,” “unmotivated,” “scatterbrained,” or “careless” — when in reality, they are living with an undiagnosed neurodevelopmental condition. This is why comprehensive ADHD assessments matter. They provide clarity, understanding, validation, and an actionable path toward success.
“Understanding brings peace — and peace begins where hope is renewed.” - Michelle Corey Colson, MA, MA, GCPC, LPCA, D. Min (cand.)
Depth. Continuity. Thoughtful care.
A therapeutic relationship that is steady, not transactional.
